WARNING: One problem teams had in regionals held last weekend was that some universities have WiFi security systems that locked out access to Kattis. Please be sure to have an alternative to your school's WiFi such as a cell phone serving WiFi to your PC.

Because of the virus, the 2020-2021 ICPC year is going to change from its usual.

The MidCentral Regional will be held on March 6, 2021. Rules for students will be viewed as applying as if the contest was held in November of 2020. That is, age, number of years of study and such will be calculated as if the regional was being held at the usual time to allow any student who would have been allowed to compete in November to compete in March.

This will be an online contest. Teams of three students will be allowed to use three computers and communicate between team members using whatever means they prefer. Communication with people outside the team is not allowed during the contest other that asking for clarification via the Kattis interface and communicating with site personnel if any logistical problems arise. Use of local and Internet resources is allowed as long as those resources are not humans. That is, you can look at code written to solve problems posted on the Internet, but you cannot send someone a message asking for help on a problem.

There will be eight regions sharing some problems on March 6, so there will be a common start time: 2:00 Eastern, 1:00 Central, noon Mountain, 11 Pacific. There will be some announcements before and after the contest, but we don't have details on timing. Likely to be around half an hour, but let's plan for an hour before and after. The time before will be important for all teams. The time after will be to run the resolver and show the final results.

We will be running one or more practice contests to test out the logistics of running the regional. The practice contests will be optional, but we will be less likely to help teams with logistical issues if they did not attend a practice contest.

Dates for the North America Championship and the World Finals will be later in 2021 than usual. Note that the 2020 World Finals is planned for June 2021 in Moscow, one year later than originally scheduled. So, the 2021 World Finals will be late in the year, likely October or November. These dates may slip even later if COVID continues to be a major problem.
